Eagerly anticipated every year by jazz buffs and anyone who appreciates great live music, the Festival Jazz à la Villette returns from August 29th to September 10th, 2019 with a programme more vibrant than ever!
Jazz in all its forms
Launched in 2002, the Festival Jazz à la Villette continues each year to offer a cutting-edge and eclectic programme of concerts based around jazz and soul.
Looking to the future, it highlights and promotes promising young musicians as well as the most inventive and talented performers of the moment in all styles of jazz. The festival also pays tribute to the past by celebrating greats from throughout the history of jazz.
Bringing together the jazz of yesteryear and a resolutely modern and contemporary musical style, it opens the music to new perspectives. In keeping with this mould-breaking ethos, the festival takes place in several iconic Parisian concert halls of the 19th arrondissement, such as the Grande Halle de la Villette, Philharmonie de Paris, the Dynamo in Pantin, Studio de l'Ermitage, Atelier du Plateau and many other venues, welcoming more than 30,000 enthusiasts.
A diverse programme and a prestigious line-up
Once again, this year, the festival will be painting with the entire Jazz palette, crossing genres and offering a vast panorama of a musical form in perpetual evolution.
Following artists as talented as Avishai Cohen, Selah Sue and Janelle Monae, who electrified the 2018 edition, this year the Festival is proud to present a line-up of jazz giants including Marcus Miller, the Kenny Garrett Quintet, Joshua Redman, the Houston Person Organ Quartet, Lee Fields & The Expressions and Guillaume Perret. The festival begins with Marcus Miller / Maisha / the Laurent Bardainne Quartet “Tigre d'eau douce” on August 29th at the Grande Halle and ends on September 10th at the same venue with Respect to Aretha featuring Antibalas and many other guests.
