The Museum of Romantic Life; tea at the Rose Bakery

Situated in the ninth arrondissement, the beautiful garden of the Musée de la Vie Romantique (Museum of Romantic Life) has been home since summer 2018 to the sixth Rose Bakery teahouse to be opened in Paris. In this enclave of timeless charm, the establishment welcomes you to its cosy conservatory for a well-deserved gourmet break. An experience that’s not to be missed during your stay at the Hotel des Arts, located just ten minutes away by public transport.

The Rose Bakery; a haven of peace at the Museum of Romantic Life

Designed by interiors specialist Émilie Bonaventure and landscaper Thierry Dalcant, this delightful tearoom is so adorned with abundant greenery that it seems to become one with the surrounding garden. Inviting in the sunshine, between roses and clematis, its terrace boasts a group of wrought iron tables painted in the famous celadon green that marks the identity of the Rose Bakery brand. When the weather’s not so great, the comfortable conservatory decorated with ferns is a garden retreat that offers the enticing prospect of sipping a fine hot chocolate while sheltering from the chill. In any season, the Rose Bakery provides a soothing and delicious break from the Parisian hubbub.

Getting to the tearoom

The Rose Bakery tearoom is situated in the grounds of the Hotel Scheffer-Renan at 16 Rue Chaptal. You enter through the courtyard of the Museum of Romantic Life. This ideal location is close to the Metro stations Saint-Georges (line 12), Pigalle (line 2 or 12) and Blanche (line 2). It’s open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday and offers a selection of drinks and delicacies throughout the year. On the menu are cookies, cakes, scones and even savoury pies to be enjoyed accompanied by a refreshing cup of lovely tea.
